Faulerová was born in Pardubice in 1989, Lucie studies Czech at Palacký University, Olomouc. She worked as the editor of the literary journal Aluze, and collaborated on Kateřina Šedá’s book Brnox (2016). Her novels include Lapači prachu (The Dust Catchers, 2017) and Smrtholka (The Deathwench, 2020). Her second book received the EU Prize for Literature (2021). “Her narrative cuts across several time frames, out of which the reader can weave the life story of the heroine Marie. Her life, as transpires from the book title, brings little cheer – Marie is attracted by death, and especially suicide, which she has studied methodically,” writes Erik Gilk of her second book.
